Why we picked this deal

Generac Guardian 18kW with whole house switch marked down 10% at A&A Power

This Guardian Series unit (model 7228) runs on natural gas or propane and is rated at 18,000 running watts, with Generac's Evolution controller and Mobile Link remote monitoring. It suits homeowners who want automatic backup for essential circuits, or more of the house when paired with one of Generac's load-shedding switches.

A&A Power shows a sale price of 5610 against a regular 6229, a 10% cut. The battery isn't included, and installation and permits are extra; A&A says to contact them for current availability and lead time.

Good fit if

You want a mid-size Generac standby unit and the bundled whole house switch.

Skip it if

You need to back up a large home with several big loads at once, where a 22kW or larger unit makes more sense.
